Books and Magazines
Course books
Ian Kemp's essential web site
with materials to support the AQA electronics courses. This site contains support booklets and past exam papers
plus lots of other useful material and should be used by all Electronics students.
AS Electronics
AS students use the support books from Ian Kemp as their course books.
These are available to download.
This is made up from two books on Ian Kemps website (Foundation Electronics book
and
Further Electronics book ) with some further additions and an index
A2 Electronics
A2 students use the support books from Ian Kemp as their course books. These
are available to download.
'Electronics
Explained' by Michael Brimicombe is also used by A2 students, there are
copies in the library. There is
an Electronics Explained
web site associated with this book that contains practical exercises
and data sheets.
Magazines
There is a lot of useful information in the electronics magazines. They contain ideas for
circuits and information about how things work as well as lot of news about the latest
developments.
- Everyday and Practical Electronics (EPE)
always has a lot of information useful to students in each issue including teach yourself
articles on various topics and small projects. For City and Islington College students
the magazine is available in the learning centre. There is an
online version of the magazine.
- Elektor electronics
is slightly more advanced than EPE and has a lot of microcontroller projects,
it is also available in the learning centre.
- Electronics World
is a more advanced magazine aimed largely at engineers and containing more general articles
and some complex projects.
-
Electronics Weekly
is the electronics industry's magazine. It is full of news and new developments but no
theory or circuits. You cannot buy Electronics Weekly from newsagents, it is sent free to
people working in the electronics industry and is a good place to look for job adverts.
There is an online version of
Electronics Weekly where you can see all the articles.
- Nuts & Volts is an American electronics hobbyist
magazine. The magazine is full of practical articles written by amateur electronics enthusiasts.
The magazine is quite difficult to get hold of in the UK.
- Electronics Education
is a magazine aimed at electronics teachers in schools and colleges.
It has articles that that provide practical help and ideas for teaching electronics.
There are copies of Electronics Education in the library.
There are many other useful books and magazines, I will add to this list when I have
more time. If you find useful books let me know and I will add their titles.
